I have the LAER and cross break action laser mods installed but not as replacers but level list items for a bit of variety. They are overall more powerful than most fully upgraded vanilla guns and scrapping them also provides good junk, all of which theoretically should be the case for the main weapon of a highly advanced group like the institute. This makes fighting Synths much more rewarding and difficult at the same time. I use this one to replace only the institute weapons as these weapons are quite OP and I do feel that the institute should have weapons like these unlike the worst energy weapons in the game they currently have.
